Ionad Cuairteoirí Chionn Fhánada

Appointed in 2021, VHA has led and managed this flagship project and its multi-disciplinary design team on behalf of Údarás na Gaeltachta. Designed by VHA, the 940msq Ionad Cuairteoirí Chionn Fhánada will provide additional space and facilities with a 90-seat café, an improved retail area, a meeting room, a craft room, and gallery space and feature an outdoor natural play area for children, all allowing the company to extend their season as well as visitor dwell time.

Since opening in 2016, Fanad Lighthouse has offered lighthouse tours and accommodation in the original lightkeepers cottages and has drawn visitors from across the globe to this relatively remote headland. Visitor numbers have increased steadily, and accommodation is booked well into the future.  It has been a huge success for the area, with 29 local people employed. We are delighted to be Lead Urban Designers, Masterplanners, Architects and Planners and Public Consultation and Engagement facilitators on this important project for Údarás na Gaeltachta. It is hoped that the new facilities will be completed by 2026.
