About This Project

The Murrough site is a prime coastal site, up to 180m in length, defined by its adjacency to the Irish Sea, the River Varty, a national rail line, and its walking proximity to Wicklow town centre.

The VHA Urban Design and Masterplanning team prepared feasibility masterplans, unlocking it from its former brownfield use, and enabling a future high-end coastal urban quarter.

A large, new mixed-use tourism and residential oriented development was designed. VHA recognised the pivotal role this waterfront site offered, including its role within the “Garden of Ireland.
