Lakeside Memorial Park

Associates for the redevelopment of the Portmarnock Raceway as a Memorial Park which will set a new standard for interment in Ireland. The park will be a celebration of life where loved ones can be honoured, remembered and respected, while also creating a new beautifully landscaped public park.

Our ambition was to create a  harmonious unity of nature, architecture and artistic decoration in contrast to the proto-typical Irish cemetery which is characterised by endless rows of monuments.  A new lake and waterfalls create interesting vistas and an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

A tall curved granite wall encircles the site entrance. Conceptually the wall marks the passing from the outside world to the memorial park. The cantilevered pavilion roof creates a sheltered café terrace which sits on the lake edge.
